A 30-meter DC cable at 400V has less voltage drop than the same cable at 48V, but only if the cable size is correct for the current.

In general, DEL means delivered from the grid to your home, and REC means received back to the grid from solar or battery.

If your meter shows only one kWh number, you may be on a straight consumption rate, and solar export is not visible on the meter face.

To verify production, compare the inverter export reading with your utility online portal after a full billing cycle. Con Edison's portal shows net usage, while your GoodWe app shows generation. The difference should not be large. If it is, check for shading, system downtime, or a CT install issue. As of January 2025, Con Edison directs customers to their online account for meter-read questions.

6. Do I need a GoodWe smart meter if I already have a utility smart meter?

Not always. The utility meter is the legal meter for billing. A GoodWe smart meter is for accurate monitoring and control. If you have a hybrid inverter and a battery, the smart meter helps the system decide when to charge the battery and when to export. Without it, the inverter can still operate, but it may not know exactly how much power is flowing through the home.

From a total cost view, adding a meter during initial installation is usually cheaper than retrofitting later. If you're planning future battery storage or time-of-use rates, I would include it now. If not, the inverter's internal CTs may be enough.
